300hr Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this program “Intro to Yoga Therapy” and am I a “Yoga Therapist” on graduation?

YSK’s 300-hour program serves as an introduction to Yoga Therapy and is offered through as an IAYT (International Association of Yoga Therapists) Member School. For those aspiring to earn the full C-IAYT (Certified International Association of Yoga Therapist) designation, the pathway requires a 500-hour certification, ideally including training from an IAYT member school. Following this, you would complete an 800-hour C-IAYT program, meeting the total 1,200-hour requirement to apply for full IAYT certification.

Upon completing your 500-hour training—200 hours foundational and 300 hours with a Yoga Therapy focus—you will hold the title of Certified Yoga Therapist (CYT). This equips you to work confidently with all bodies and conditions, skillfully integrating yoga as a therapeutic modality. For many, this level of training is more than sufficient to develop a fulfilling career as a Yoga Therapist. However, to use the official C-IAYT designation, you must complete an accredited 800-hour program in addition to your 500-hour certification. A program through an IAYT Member School, like YSK, better prepares you for future Yoga Therapy training. Unlike non-member schools, our curriculum aligns with IAYT standards, ensuring you receive training specifically designed to integrate seamlessly with the requirements for full certification.

This clear distinction ensures that you can tailor your professional path to your goals while advancing your knowledge and skill set at the highest standards.

Do I complete the Core Curriculum in 300hr?

For trainees who have completed YSK’s 200-hour training, the Core Curriculum of the 300-hour program is not mandatory unless you feel the need to revisit specific areas for further depth and refinement. If you have completed your 200-hour training elsewhere, however, we require that you attend Opening Weekend to ensure alignment with our program’s foundation. Ideally, you will also complete the full Core Curriculum, as it provides an essential and robust foundation for the work that follows, but this can be adjusted on a person-to-person basis.

Once the Core Curriculum is complete, the remaining hours of your 300-hour training can be dedicated to honing a specific area of specialty. The program is tailored to each individual, meaning that your journey will be personalized to suit your unique interests and goals. Whether you’re focusing on therapeutic applications, a specific methodology, or deepening your practice in another way, we work with you to create a path that meets your needs while ensuring a comprehensive, well-rounded education.

Yes, participants who complete all modules and meet program requirements will receive a certification in Yoga Therapy through Yoga San Kalpa.

Will I receive certification upon completion?

What if I start, but decide the program isn’t for me?

Our programs are non-refundable and non-transferable. This policy reflects the significant investment we make in providing high-quality, comprehensive training. From the moment you enroll, you gain access to an extensive library of materials, including detailed manuals and pre-coursework, all of which hold significant value on their own.

We encourage you to carefully consider your commitment before starting, as our programs are designed to be transformative and rewarding for those who engage fully. If you have concerns or feel uncertain at any point, we are here to support you and help you navigate any challenges to ensure you get the most out of your training.

We are not Yoga Alliance affiliated, and do not recommend teachers to enroll. Yoga Alliance has significantly lowered the bar on yoga teacher training programs, lobbied against regulation that would allow the industry to leverage health insurance, and has declined to publish financial reports for several years despite the requirement for an NGO. The organization does not enforce graduation standards of teacher training facilitator requirements beyond a 200hr cert. They perform no ongoing quality monitoring or audits, and continue to consider schools and teachers members even when there are grave ethical concerns raised.

Our school stands for integrity and excellence for the yoga industry. The concept of Yoga Alliance is being abandoned by the majority of reputable studios in the united States. We are a member school of IAYT - International Association of Yoga Therapists. Please visit their website for information on their Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics, two pillars that elevate the industry standard, and align with YSK’s values.
